unacoder shrugged

from a facebook discussion of Atlas Shrugged, describing my sense of the book (in someone else's words).
1200 pages in paperback. Sheesh. I suppose I should read it someday. Aside from the size, I'm worried it will convert me into one of those people who can't stop talking about how important it is.
thus, i have never read it. meh.

  1. I wouldn't worry. I loved The Fountainhead (in high school, natch), but when I started Atlas Shrugged a few years later, I got maybe a quarter of the way in and stopped due to extreme boredom.

  2. Yep, I expect you would now be safe from its charms.

When you are a 16 year old boy, and the popular kids are all assholes, and you are looking for an explanation of the world that makes your loner lifestyle not just okay, but actually heroic....THEN you might be in danger from AS.

    Now....I think you're a bit past that.
