My dad is discovering the internet, and he came to me in earnest recenly, concerned that my biodiesel car was eating into our food supply. I explained to him that his "sources" on teh interwebs were politically motivated "experts" or ill-informed nay-sayers. My biodiesel comes from waste oil, virgin soy oil (which isn't considered much of a foodstuff here in the US) and waste chicken fat from the local processing plant.I don't think that any one thing will ever be a 'silver bullet' solution to our fuel problems. All of the biodiesel producers that I know of don't even attempt to pose as the end-all-be-all solution. It's just the solution that works best for them, in their locations, at this time. Personal choice and personal empowerment, instead of being shoehorned into a single option.
